Raise The Nation
Grants And Scholarships
Raise the Nation is launching a new application process that will allow us to award higher scholarship and grant amounts to applicants. Our scholarship and grant recipients are now selected based on a scoring system developed by our Board of Directors. This scoring system is intended to select those applicants who exhibit accomplishment or potential with respect to personal development, community leadership or participation, and academic achievement. Note that we do not request that you provide your G.P.A.. We understand that your academic performance does not necessarily reflect your abilities to be an outstanding individual.

Thank you for your continued support of our organization. We hope that these changes will help us build our capacity to help our community of single parent women and their children.
Student Loan Repayment Grant
This grant is awarded to professional single parent women with outstanding student loan debt who contribute to their community through volunteer work. We honor women who volunteer in their community. Student loan repayment grants are available to women who volunteer their professional talents for an average of 8 hours a month, for a period of time to be determined by the amount of their student loan debt. We recognize that women who are in the helping or teaching professions already contribute to their communities, therefore, no further volunteer work is required to qualify. Community service hours will be determined/decided when you receive an award.
Scholarship For Continuing Education
This scholarship is available to single parent women who would like to go to school or continue with their education, but have been denied sufficient resources. Many single parent women are denied educational grants and assistance unless they are living in crisis and poverty and are instead forced to borrow money for tuition and living expenses, which is very difficult to re-pay based on the national earning average of $27,500 a year - even with an education. We recognize single parent women who want to raise their standard of living and that of their children by continuing education and advancing their careers. You must be accepted or currently enrolled in a post secondary course of study to qualify for this scholarship.
Child of a Single Parent Woman Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to reduce the financial burden of paying for college that single parent women face when they still claim their children as dependent on their taxes. We recognize that depenedent children are only offered minimal amounts of financial aid due to the calculation being dependent on their mother's income.
If you are the child of a single parent woman and are entering or are currently enrolled in a post secondary course of study you qualify for this scholarship. You must also be claimed as a dependent by your mother to qualify (under 24 years of age).
